What We Do
College programming highlights career exploration, career readiness, networking, and one-on-one support from coaches. Our curriculum includes College Success Workshops (CSW), live and recorded, and covers topics such as Financial Aid, Mental Health, and First-Gen College Students.
Our coaches also provide regular connections with in-person and virtual visits to campuses.
Programs
College Success Workshops
CSWs are designed to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth during college. Sessions are planned to support students’ study skills, supporting mental health, career readiness, and financial literacy. Additionally, we gauge session topics based on the identified areas of need for our students. These sessions are offered virtually so that all of our college students, no matter where they are in school, can still participate.
Pre-College Retreat
Bright Prospect hosts an annual 2-day event for rising college freshmen. The event includes informative workshops about the college-going experience, team-building activities, and a student panel featuring current Bright Prospect college students. One of the main priorities for the retreat is to introduce students to the next phase of their academic journey and how Bright Prospect will support them as they work towards their bachelor’s degree.
Mentorship
Our coaches build supportive relationships with students through regular contact and individualized coaching sessions. A student may need support with a particular subject, help with assignments, or guidance on making new friends and getting connected on campus. In addition to campus life, academic, and mental health support, our coaches provide help with financial aid applications and graduate school applications. Our coaches serve as part of the Bright Prospect “Village” for our students, supporting them, cheering them on, and sometimes challenging them. Our goal is to help them to achieve their goals.
BP Talks
BP Talks are additional sessions where Bright Prospect Alumni share their experience, knowledge, and expertise along with on a variety of topics. Topics such as campus life issues, traveling abroad, life after college, the importance of campus clubs, and networking. Also, topics may relate to different career paths, such as advocacy, public policy, medicine, law, business, and education. Connecting our Bright Prospect Alumni with our current college students provides our current college students with expert advice from our village.
