One of the things Bright Prospect does is to expose our top high school juniors (those with a GPA of 3.8 and above) with the options of attending a selective liberal arts college. Luckily, students don’t have to travel far to get a liberal arts college experience, since we have a cluster of those right in our backyard- the Claremont Colleges. The Claremont Colleges is a consortium of five undergraduate liberal arts colleges that includes Pomona College, Scripps College, Claremont McKenna College, Harvey Mudd College, and Pitzer College.
On Saturday, November 4th, 34 of our juniors attended a Bright Prospect event at Pitzer College called Pitzer Preview Day. The students who were invited to attend were all deemed private college eligible, due to their outstanding academic record. This event was a chance for current high school juniors to hear directly from Pitzer admissions officers, students, professors, and to familiarize themselves with the private college application process. Activities for the day included a campus tour, a mock class, a session on the private college application process, a college student panel composed of Pitzer students from Bright Prospect, and brunch at McConnell Dining Hall.
Many Bright Prospect staff members and alumni graduated from private colleges, which generally offer several advantages, including excellent financial aid and the opportunity for personal growth by studying out of state and interacting with a broad range of exceptional students who come from all parts of the country and the world.
