It was a night filled with excitement and inspiration. Approximately 300 civic dignitaries, business leaders, and community supporters gathered last Friday, April 7, to honor and celebrate the accomplishments of 16 Bright Prospect alumni working in the technology, engineering, and architecture fields at the Sheraton Fairplex Conference Center in Pomona.
Alumni honorees Sahara Ibarra, an engineer at TechnipFMC in Claremont, and Anne Nguyen, assistant planner for the city of La Habra, told how Bright Prospect changed the trajectory of their lives and helped them overcome the obstacles placed before them. Jeroen Snjder, VP/General Manager of TechnipFMC and an industry honoree at the event, revealed how TechnipFMC’s objective used to be making a profit, but now he also prioritizes giving back to the community. He credited Bright Prospect with opening his eyes, saying he has been very impressed with the three Bright Prospect alumni currently working at TechnipFMC. Brian Staton, President/CEO of HMC Architects, was also honored at the Gala. “I am proud to support Bright Prospect because the mission of HMC Architects is to partner with clients and communities to serve the greater good, and HMC does this by specializing in designing schools and hospitals,” declared Mr. Staton.
Miguel Santana, President/CEO of Fairplex, spoke to the audience about how he sees himself in the students Bright Prospect serves, coming from a similar background of low income, immigrant parents. Like TechnipFMC, Fairplex also employs three Bright Prospect alumni. The 2017 Annual Gala was Bright Prospect’s most successful, highest-attended event to date. Along with our entire community, we congratulate all our alumni on their accomplishments and wish them nothing but continued success on their professional and personal journeys moving forward. We thank all of our past donors who made their achievements possible!
