Welcome to Bright Prospect

Several years ago, the foundation for the Bright Prospect Scholar Support Program was laid when my wife Nancy and I became involved in a special organization called One Voice based in Santa Monica, California. One Voice supports lowincome families in the Los Angeles area. Since 1991, they have offered a program that places high-achieving students from these families into some of the nation’s most prestigious colleges and universities. I was so impressed with the program that I felt it should grow to reach many more deserving young people.

So in 2001, with the assistance and participation of the two Founding Directors of One Voice, I founded the Bright Prospect Scholar Support Program. Together with an extraordinary team of educators, we set about replicating and expanding the One Voice model.

Bright Prospect collaborates with high schools in low-income urban areas to identify and nurture young people who, against seemingly insurmountable odds, are determined to realize their dream of a college education. These young people have

overcome so much, and have so much to offer that they have earned the opportunity to succeed. It’s up to us to give them this opportunity.

Unique among scholarship programs, Bright Prospect has already helped our scholars achieve tremendous results. Now we’re poised to grow.

On the pages that follow, you’ll meet and hear from some of our incredible students and their families, as well as education professionals, all of whom have embraced Bright Prospect. You’ll learn how Bright Prospect achieves success when other similar programs often struggle, and why Bright Prospect merits broad-based support in our quest to expand. Through prudent management of resources made possible by visionary donors, we will be able to reach many more "bright prospects" in low-income communities across our nation. I invite you to consider adding your name to the growing list of Bright Prospect sponsors.
