In just a short time, the Bright Prospect Scholar Support Program has helped every one of our extraordinary Scholars, who come from low-income families and low-ranking high schools, receive multiple offers of admission from 29 of the nation’s 50 top-ranked liberal arts colleges.
These institutions have offered our Scholars financial aid packages averaging $38,000 per year per student. As a result, our remarkable Scholars are now furthering their academic, personal and social development at Harvey Mudd, Pomona, Smith, Swarthmore, Wesleyan and other colleges that are among the best in our nation. Furthermore, while less than 33% of low-income underrepresented college entrants typically stay in college through to graduation, the Bright Prospect Scholar Support Program is based on a proven
process that results in a graduation rate that exceeds 95%.
While the Bright Prospect Program has grown from 12 to 22 students per year, our available resources limit us to just 22 new students each year on an ongoing basis—and many more deserving students need our help. Only through the prudent management of resources made possible by visionary donors will we be able to help many more “bright prospects” in low-income communities across our nation.
As we grow to serve more and more students, they themselves become beacons of inspiration, lighting the way for younger students to follow. Together we are establishing pathways out of poverty in the communities we serve. With additional support, we can reach out to more students and more communities across the nation. But to grow, we must enlist additional Bright Prospect Sponsors. We need your help.
The strong support that Bright Prospect provides our Scholars and their families throughout their college years requires considerable effort and resources.
